Lampedusa: slow tourism in the Mediterraean

Loto promotes an environmental week in Lampedusa, called #FuoriStagione, a new innovative experience in the southernmost Island of Italy, designed to develop responsible tourism strategies and environmental activities in a period outside the high season, contributing to a more balanced operation of tourism businesses throughout the year.

In May 2020 we will be working on the Island of Lampedusa with tourists, volunteers and two important partners: Legambiente Circolo locale Esther Ada and Mar.Eco Osservatorio della Natura.

Together we will focus on developing new strategies to address the carrying capacity of the Island, trying to better balance the presence of tourists, decreasing the pressure on land and to involve all the stakeholders in different kind of activities based on environmental conservation campaign, hiking and botanical walking, recycling workshop, plugging and many other creative ideas.
