Nature journey to discover the wolf on the Parma Apennines (Northern Apennines): a proposal for those who can’t wait to dive themselves in grazing lands and streams, guided by a local association born to protect the wolf and to promote the coexistence between wildlife and humans. The appointment is on the Parma Apennines, from 24 to 30 August 2020.
Northern Apennines, Val Taro: nature adventure to discover the wolf in its natural habitat: seven days of meetings, excursions and stories created to promote the understanding of this species with a remarkable ecological role but still threatened by poaching and disinformation. A week open to anyone who wants to immerse itself into nature, guided by the Italian Association “Io non ho paura del lupo” discovering Parma Apennines and its most hidden corners. The program includes various excursions, (also accessible to non-experts but a little desire to walk is necessary!), targeted outings for wildlife sightings, moments of dialogue and direct meeting with the inhabitants of the area (humans included). There will be also moments dedicated to cleaning interventions of some paths and areas previously identified. Daniele, President of the partner association, will be the on-site contact for all the participants taking part at the trip; he will take care of them in an area that he knows like the back of his hand. Afternoons of rest are scheduled, but the plan may be modified according to the weather conditions (temperature leap during the week/rains etc …) – the local team will evaluate day by day any changes to the plan. Watchword: flexibility!
Accomodation
The accommodation will not be a mere detail: by participating at this week into nature you will have the chance to meet Simona that, leaving the frenzied Milan behind, has decided to reinvent herself by setting up an extraordinary accommodation option. After buying a tiny house and the stable next door, she asked herself what type of building could resist snow, wind, heat and the force of nature in the Apennines. After several searches and a trip to Mongolia, she had the answer: the first yurts on the Parma Apennines were placed. Each yurt has 4/6 beds, depending on the choice of guests with a private room bathroom a few meters from the tent; furnished with wooden furniture, comfortable beds and a view that rewards the day’s efforts. A homemade breakfast will be waiting for you in the morning (check out the gallery at the end of the page!)
Travel budget
For the entire week is estimated a cost around € 420.00 – considering to have all your dinners at the hosting structure, the expense could be around € 495.00.
Details
The contribution required for the participation at the entire week is € 265.00. The fee is per person and includes the membership card and the support contribution for LOTO, cultural association that promotes travels as a form of active citizenship and learning. Still included must be considered all the guided excursions on-site, the support to the partner association “Io non ho paura del lupo” and the sharing dinner at the end of the experience.
We agreed with Simona (thanks to Daniele!) a favourable solution: six nights in a yurt, including breakfast and daily packed lunch prepared by the hosting structure, at € 156.00.
Dinners will remain free in order to have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area, getting to know some festivals and adding some unscheduled moments at the week. Once at the hosting structure, it will also be possible to agree for a light dinner, at € 15.00, to be enjoyed out of the yurt after a day of walking and visits.
